Thank you for your kind comments! Ellen, you should start a little nature table. Who says you have to wait until you have children to play with gnomes?
Candice, I'm glad you like the idea, though you know I've taken a lot of inspiration from you, too. When you sent Ellen flowers on the 25th anniversary of finding out you were pregnant with her, it made me decide to celebrate that day with each of our kids. And the cookie care packages in college were just another facet of handmade!

Emily, what a beautiful idea! I wish I had thought of that when Ellen was little. When Mia and Lucas write their "25 things" on their Facebook pages many years from now, I'm sure your Nature Table will be a part of their happy memories. I'm glad that Ellen put a link to your blog from hers. This is a fantastic idea.

I love this idea! I was just thinking recently about how important the seasons are to me here in Korea. Without the same cultural events to mark the passing of time (Halloween, Election Day, Thanksgiving, and even Christmas are not so big here), the change from summer to fall to winter has been particularly beautiful to me this year, a connection to what my friends and family are experiencing at home.
